He gambled away his inheritance and married beneath himself.

His wife died in giving birth to Theodore. The sixth Earl took custody of Theodore when he found him (Theo) bringing gin to his father's mistress in his house. Mr. John Frant died of an inflammation of the lungs after getting wet at Newmarket.
